Family Promise of Brevard has been HOME to 100 people!
Last week, Family Promise of Brevard, with the support of our interfaith hospitality network, volunteers, and generous donors, sheltered, fed and provided intensive case management to our 100th person since becoming operational on September 29, 2013!
Most notably, 57 of those 100 were children, who would have been homeless without our support. Why is this so important? Children who are homeless are more likely to be sick, experience emotional/behavioral issues, developmental delays, and school failure.
Your support, as a donor, volunteer, community partner, or advocate, has ensured that children who need shelter get what they need to continue growing and thriving, while their parents work aggressively towards ending their own homelessness and increasing their stability. By strengthening our families, we are strengthening our community.
So, now what?
We continue to fill a huge gap in emergency shelter services, as Family Promise of Brevard is the only emergency shelter program in Brevard County that can shelter an intact family with a father, a single father with children, or a mother with a male child over the age of 12.
Together, with our Brevard Homeless Coalition partners, we are implementing a coordinated assessment system that identifies gaps in services and focuses our coordinated efforts on moving our “families in transition” into HOUSING, so they can regain their self-sufficiency and lasting independence.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Tara Pagliarini, MSW
