Tonight in Brevard County, there will be over 1,500 families living in their vehicles, doubled up with others, living in campsites or emergency shelters. This rising epidemic has brought together Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), Leadership Brevard Class of 2019 team, and Family Promise of Brevard to create and launch an awareness campaign called “You’re the Key” to engage our community in understanding this complex issue. “Family homelessness is a hidden epidemic,” says Pagliarini, Executive Director of Family Promise of Brevard. “Families aren’t on the corner asking for help, they are working full time jobs and still not making enough money to afford the rising cost of housing in our community. In fact, families that we see are spending roughly 50-80% of their income on housing alone.”
Bank of America and Space Coast Association of REALTORS Foundation learned about this campaign and joined in their support so that the 90-second PSA, donated and produced entirely by the BCSO, could play at the AMC Avenue 16 in The Avenue Viera for six months. The PSA will start playing on 5/31, and encourages and invites viewers to become Ambassadors in ending family homelessness. By going to a landing page donated and managed by Rock, Paper, Simple and Artemis IT, viewers can learn more about the issue and actionable ways to help. Houser Financial Group funded the recognizable logo seen in the video.
